Just down from Monterey Square is the famous Forsyth Park with its picturesque fountain, abundant trees, avenues for strolling, and expansive grass for leisurely activities. All I could think of was how much my dogs would have loved to run wild in the grass. Although we didn’t indulge in a picnic during our stay, if we had time to, this would have been the perfect place to plop down with a basketful of fried chicken and of course, a few to-go cups.
Should you find yourself in need of a caffeinated pick-me-up, Sentient Bean is just to the south of the park. They have decent coffee and quite a menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner (vegan fare too). While you’re there, take a stroll through the Victorian District. If you’re at all interested in Victorian architecture, this neighborhood will not disappoint.
