Colonial Park Cemetery

Our last cemetery tour in Savannah ended at Colonial Park . Established in 1750, some of Savannah’s early citizens are buried here as well as those who succumbed to yellow fever. There is also a duelists’ section where¬† others with “too much honor” ended up. Located in the heart of the historic district, it’s easy to access and makes for a nice stroll after lunch. Colonial Park was closed for burials before the Civil War so there are not any Confederate soldiers buried here. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting place to visit and if you’re interested in ghost tours, you can take one at night and learn about Renee R. Asch who in the 1800’s was accused of murdering two girls whose bodies were found in the cemetery…
