The Queers at Soda Bar {San Diego, CA}

We made it out on a “school night” to see the Queers last week at Soda Bar in San Diego, CA. We’ve seen the Queers every time they have performed in SD since we’ve lived here and although their shows are always good, I’ve yet to hear Burger King Queen. One of these days I’ll get up the nerve to just shout it out when they are taking requests. They do, however, play Born to do Dishes often which is another favorite of mine so I guess I can’t complain too much.

I have to say, this show was the one I enjoyed most. The venue was small but large enough not to be a sweat box, the crowd was mellow, and we got to stand up front without getting knocked out by a zealous fans. Oh, and the best part? We were not the oldest ones there! Yay because that doesn’t happen too often.

Queers were actually the opening band for Teenage Bottlerocket which was a lot of fun to watch. I especially enjoyed to skeleton guy amping up the crowd. We were just going to stay for a couple of songs from Bottlerocket, but they were so good we lost track of time and stayed for most of the show. Ahh, we shall pay the price on the next day at work…
