S let me know she was hungry and she wanted fried chicken. I had already had dinner, probably at home at my parents house so I had no appetite. To be honest I could not even tell you where we were at the time she said it but I can tell you that if you ask any decent citizen of Los Angeles to take you to get some chicken, you’ll end up at Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles. S said she’d never been there which was an error that absolutely had to be corrected. So of we went to the closest one to both of our neighborhoods which was the Pasadena Roscoe’s on Lake. That was 15 years ago.
The idea of eating chicken with waffles at the same time, both items coexisting on the same plate has been debated since the beginning of time. Even to this day its debated in our own house. The fact is, fried chicken and waffles go great together! If you’re a weirdo like me, you even like to lightly rub a sprig of rosemary on your waffle too! No matter, we opened up the fridge and there it was, chicken to right, and waffle batter to the left (recipe here), no questions were asked, chickens and waffles would be sharing the dinner plates tonight.
