good food + awesome travel & occasional odd bits

Pâtisserie Arnaud Larher and around Montmartre

Patisserie Arnaud Larher

On our last day in Paris, we wet back to Montmartre, had lunch at Gontran Cherrier, and went for dessert at Pâtisserie Arnaud Larher. Once I was inside this shop, I was completely enthralled with the myriad of choices. Verrines, eclairs, chocolates, spheres, candies, and macarons. Just to name a few. We made our selections and scurried off to find a quiet place to sit and savor.

St. Honore

Here’s a salted caramel St. Honore. I haven’t had one of these in a very long time. One bite of the thin, crisp caramel, rich puff pastry and caramel cream and I couldn’t believe I’ve missed out on this for so long.

The Regale was a praline sphere of hazelnut speckled chocolate shell, praline inside, and hazelnut buttercream atop a dacquiose square. This was definitely my favorite of the three items we came away with. I just love praline and this was all that  hope it would be.

Of course I had to get a few macarons. I was feeling adventurous this day, so from left to right, here they are: absinthe, hazelnut, and mango/orange.

Break Out!

It was now time for a walk to work up an appetite for more desserts.  We came across this bronze sculpture the a small courtyard. Not sure who he is, but he sure looks cool.
